1.What is the cost of entering a float?
The lorries, drivers and insurance are provided by Porthcawl Buckaneers.
2. Are there any other costs?
You may need to purchase materials to build the float but on our Facebook page we are seeking donations of material for use for floats.
3. What kind of lorry do I need?
This varies, all the lorries are artic with trailers. There are two types of trailers. There is a high covered trailer (Tautliner) or there is a flatliner with no cover.
4. What is the length and width of the trailers?
Generally they are 16.5 metres long by 2.55 metres wide
5. When and where will the trailers be delivered?
If it can be arranged the trailer is delivered to a location of your chosen on a Friday evening, if not it will be early Saturday Morning.
6. Where does the procession start from?
Sandy Bay caravan site behind New Road School Porthcawl.
7. What time do the floats and walkers need to be at the start?
By 1pm at the latest.
8. What time does the procession start?
It starts at 1.30pm. There are road closures in place and it MUST start on time.
9.Can we collect money?
Porthcawl Buckaneers have the licence for the carnival day. Only official carnival buckets are allowed to collect. You can help Porthcawl Buckaneers to collect and buckets are allocated at the start of the procession.
10. Where does the procession end?
At Porthcawl Rugby Club. There will be a travelling fair, numerous stalls and food outlets. There are performing acts and entertainment and there is NO cost for entrance.
